A Thoughtful Path to Fit
Admissions at Vail Performance Academy are intentionally designed as a conversation, not a transaction. Our process exists to ensure that each student is well matched academically, athletically, and philosophically with the VPA model.
We seek students who are motivated, coachable, and driven to pursue excellence both in the classroom and in their chosen sport.
The Admissions Process
Our admissions process unfolds in three intentional steps, allowing families and students to fully understand the model before making a commitment.
Step 1: Admissions Inquiry or Open House
The first step is learning about Vail Performance Academy and determining whether our approach aligns with your family’s goals.
Families may begin by submitting an admissions inquiry or attending an information session or open house. These opportunities provide an overview of our academic model, athletic integration, daily schedule, and community values.
This step is exploratory. No application or commitment is required.
Step 2: One-on-One Family Conversation
Families who demonstrate alignment with the VPA mission are invited to a one-on-one conversation with school leadership.
This discussion explores academic goals, learning style, athletic commitments, training and competition schedules, student motivation and habits, readiness for a self-directed model, and financial partnership questions when applicable.
The purpose of this conversation is mutual clarity. Both the family and the school assess whether VPA is the right long-term fit.
Step 3: Academic and Financial Partnership Application
Families who choose to move forward submit a formal application that includes academic records and teacher recommendations, student reflections and goal-setting materials, and athletic background and training commitments.
Families interested in financial partnership support complete a separate financial application during this step.
Applications are reviewed holistically, with decisions based on academic readiness, motivation, mission alignment, and available resources. Enrollment offers are extended on a rolling basis until spaces are filled.
What We Look For
Successful VPA students tend to share several common traits. They are intrinsically motivated, willing to take ownership of their learning, committed to training and personal growth, and coachable with strong character.
VPA is not the right fit for every student. This selectivity is intentional and essential to preserving the integrity of the learning community.
Admissions Timeline
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Families are encouraged to begin the process early, as class sizes are intentionally small and financial partnership resources are limited.
