Admissions.
A thoughtful path to fit.
Admissions at Vail Performance Academy are intentionally designed as a conversation, not a transaction. Our process exists to make sure each student is well-matched academically, athletically, and philosophically with the VPA model.
The admissions process.
Three steps that let families understand the model fully before making a commitment — and let us understand each student before extending an offer.
Inquiry or open house
The first step is simply learning about Vail Performance Academy — and figuring out whether our approach fits your family's goals.
Families can submit an admissions inquiry, attend an information session, or come to an open house. These give you a clear view of our academic model, athletic integration, daily schedule, and community values.
One-on-one family conversation
Families whose goals align with the VPA mission are invited into a one-on-one conversation with school leadership. The purpose is mutual clarity — both the family and the school assess whether VPA is the right long-term fit.
What we explore together:
- Academic goals and learning style
- Athletic commitments and competition schedule
- Student motivation and habits
- Readiness for a self-directed model
- Financial partnership questions, if applicable
- What success looks like for your student
Application & financial partnership
Families who choose to move forward submit a formal application that's reviewed holistically — based on academic readiness, motivation, mission alignment, and available resources.
The application includes:
- Academic records & teacher recommendations
- Student reflections & goal-setting materials
- Athletic background & training commitments
- Financial partnership application (if applicable)
Who thrives at VPA.
Successful VPA students share a few common traits. These are the qualities we explore together in conversation.
Intrinsically motivated
Students who pursue mastery because they want to — not because someone is making them.
Owners of their learning
Willing to take responsibility for what they learn, when they learn it, and how deeply they go.
Committed to growth
Athletes, artists, and scholars who have a daily training practice — and the discipline to sustain it.
Coachable, with character
Open to feedback. Honest with themselves. Generous with the community around them.
VPA is not the right fit for every student — and that's by design. Our selectivity protects the integrity of the learning community.
Apply early. Spaces are limited.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. We encourage families to begin the process early, since class sizes are intentionally small and financial partnership resources are limited.
If VPA might be the right fit, let's start the conversation.
Submit an inquiry or join an upcoming open house. The first step is exploratory — no commitment required.
Vail Performance Academy admits students without regard to race, color, national origin, or background, and seeks to build a diverse, mission-aligned learning community.
